Youth Internships

How to Apply:
  • Fill out and submit the online form below.
  • Submit your application by Friday, March 26, 2010.
  • Each teen must also submit two (2) Letters of Recommendation by Friday, March 26, 2010.
  • letters of recommendation can be e-mailed to tips@teensinpublicservice.org or faxed to 206-985-1919 or mail letters of recommendation to the TIPS office at 4530 Union Bay Pl, #140, Seattle 98105
  • Applicants will be notified if they are selected for an interview between mid April and the beginning of May.
  • All applicants will receive notification of their program acceptance by no later than May 30, 2010.

(An internship is often a first job experience for TIPS participants. It is not necessary to have previous work or volunteer experience.)

It is the responsibility of each applicant to provide two letters of recommendation. After you submit your application, you will receive details on how your references can send their reference to us. Please enter information about the references you intend to ask for letters of recommendation. Letters of Recommendation can be provided from school teachers, counselors, coaches, religious leaders, neighbors, and former or current bosses. Letters of Recommendation cannot be written by family members.

Other Activities & Commitments:

TIPS cannot offer internships to all applicants; therefore, availability is a strong factor in selection. Internships are 6 to 8 weeks and five (5) of those weeks must be consecutive. Most internships will begin Monday, June 28, 2010. Attendance is also mandatory for the following program event dates:

  • TIPS Orientation - Thursday, June 10, 2010 (evening)
  • Leadership Training - Saturday, July 17, 2010 (1/2 day)
  • Day of Service - Saturday, July 31, 2010 (1/2 day)
  • Celebration of Service - Thursday, August 19, 2010 (evening)

Please list here all other activities that you are involved with this summer (e.g. vacations, driver's ed, sports or extracurricular activities, or other jobs). If you do not indicate that you will be absent or busy, we will assume you are available on a regular basis throughout the summer.
