The TIPS Staff

Cathy Michalec, Executive Director

Cathy joined TIPS in October 2007. As Executive Director, she brings  many years of experience in the non-profit sector. Cathy is in charge of all fund raising activities at TIPS including grant writing, corporate sponsorships and event management. She is excited to be working with the future leaders of tomorrow and is thrilled to be working within the network of the many non-profit organizations in Seattle that TIPS serves.

Prior to TIPS, Cathy was the Executive Director for Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, Northwest chapter, and Development Director for a public radio/tv station in Central PA. Cathy holds a BS in Education from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She has also served as Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco.

Jenny Frankl, Development Coordinator.

Jenny Frankl started calling TIPS ‘home’ in September of 2011, when she was hired as our development coordinator.  She helps manage development operations, write grants, plan for program growth, and coordinate communications.  In her eleven+ years of experience in the youth-development field – as a teacher, outreach specialist, program coordinator and project manager – youth empowerment and community-building have been the foundation for her work.

In June 2011, Jenny earned her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs and brings with her a working knowledge of direct youth service, relationship management, and systems administration.  Her professional career in Seattle began in the classroom where she taught in both middle school and high school settings.  In 2006, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Jamaica and following her years abroad, returned to Seattle in the capacity of program coordinator for the Seattle Youth Commission.  It was at this juncture where she was first learned about TIPS!  Her strong desire to be part of a team that is committed to helping expose young people to new experiences and opportunities and incite inspiration naturally led her to TIPS.
